In 2004, I stumbled into my first yoga class as a required movement course in my college curriculum.
Jeanne Heileman, our instructor, encouraged us to surrender to the present moment. While experiencing the intensity of my body's reactions, I remained silent, refocused on my breath and let my thoughts, fears and emotions come and go. After the tidal wave of cerebration and within these quiet postures, I experienced what I describe as an all-encompassing sense of peace.
The moments I spend on the mat have fundamentally expanded my perception and changed the way I live, love and work. My practice is a gift of healing and self-inquiry. I teach what I strive to cultivate for myself.
I hope that you too experience the joy and bliss that a regular practice can bring to your life.
